Artworks

I am a musician experimenting with art. I teach art and have learned it in real time. Improvising is the core activity. My favorite art media are color pencils and chalk/paint mix. Much of what you see is color pencil (the opening piece is a trace, then texturized with objects below the paper). I also like building little sculptures (shown in the gallery) and converting forms into other forms (tube to cube, cereal box to plant, etc.). I've experimented with painting, and prefer mixing chalk into the mix. For painting, I have landed on using the pinky side of my hand (make a fist and use soft edge of hand), rather than a brush.

I have collections of objects for sculpture, particularly toys and found metal. I'm planning to build human forms with the toy parts, once the time is right. My daughter and I also have worked on a 12' x 4' mural for a decade. Encapsulating large stuffed animals in papier mâché is easily one of my favorite activities.

Incremental creativity, with music, art, and writing, is how it happens. Little by little, daily. The primary idea is that as states become permanent traits, creativity is the actual experience of living, not an output list. How we experience this world, is the thing. The dust is imminent.

making art is so good.
