This is the starting point for all 7 octaves. This is to acquaint you with all 7, before digging deeper into each.
We are basing the patterns on this page on the nut [the origin = the lowest the octave shape can be moved]. All of the octaves work perfectly [the pattern at the nut transfers up the board exactly], except for octave 41 [it will need to be moved onto the board to see the complete picture]. Some of the octaves have more than one fingering.
Suggested fingerings will be below the Numera and tone names. They are sometimes the best finger logic, but other options exist.
In the coming lesson pages, play through each of the scales: Major Pentatonic & Major, for each octave. First, will be the origin [at/near the nut]. Second, will be for the tone A [except where A is the origin]. Let’s get acquainted with the octaves.
